Our Veterinarians

Dr. Kirk D. Weicht Dr. Kirk D. Weicht

Dr. Weicht was born and raised in upstate New York. His family was transferred to Texas in 1976. Following his lifelong passion to pursue a career as a veterinarian, he graduated with the Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Texas A & M University in 1983. During his tenure at “Aggieland,” Dr. Weicht served as the President of his veterinary class. Immediately upon graduation, Dr. Weicht returned to Bedford and accepted a position as staff veterinarian at Brown Trail Animal Hospital. He had worked extensively at this practice both as a pre-vet student and throughout veterinary school. Dr. Weicht ultimately purchased Brown Trail Animal Hospital and has been the sole owner since 1994.

Dr. Weicht enjoys all aspects of small animal practice but is especially fond of complex internal medicine cases, reconstructive knee surgery and endocrine cases. Continuing education has always been important to him, and he strives to keep abreast of the latest advances in medicine and technology. Dr. Weicht received extensive pain management training through the international Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM), with a focus on laser therapy and acupuncture.
In 1990, Dr. Weicht served as President of the Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Association. In 1996, he was elected President of the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice. Dr. Weicht has received various honors and awards including Eagle Scout, Who’s Who in Veterinary Medicine, and Science and Hills Veterinary Student Awards.He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Fort Worth Tarrant County Animal Foundation.

In 2009, he was selected as the Southwest Region and National winner of the Veterinarian of the Year Award given by Morris Animal Foundation. Dr. Weicht was placed on the Veterinary Honor Roll by the Morris Animal Foundation for years 2009 through 2014.
A 2nd Degree Black Belt in martial arts, Dr. Weicht teaches both private and group classes at his martial arts Academy in Hurst, TX. His primary focus is Jeet Kune Do, the art started by Bruce Lee. Dr. Weicht has presented seminars both locally and internationally to civilians, law enforcement personnel, military and special forces.

Dr. Weicht and his wife enjoy landscaping, riding their Harley Davidson's, MMA, and spending time with friends and family. They share their home with a menagerie of furry friends and wildlife that have taken up residence in their back yard.

Dr. Megan Murphy Dr. Megan Murphy

Dr. Murphy grew up on a small ranch near Granbury, TX with a variety of animals. Following her life-long desire to become a veterinarian, she began working in veterinary hospitals at the age of fifteen and attended Texas A&M University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science prior to attending veterinary school.

Dr. Murphy joined the staff at Brown Trail Animal Hospital upon graduating from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. During veterinary school, she served on her class counsel as Student-Faculty Liaison and Secretary. She is an Aggie through and through, enjoying the rich traditions of the campus and, of course, Fightin' Texas Aggie football.

Although client education is one of her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine, she particularly enjoys internal medicine, dentistry, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Murphy is a member of the American, Texas, and Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Associations.

Dr. Murphy and her husband, Jonathan, share their home with a lanky Australian Shepherd, Jake, who lives for frisbee's, swimming and long walks. She also has an orange tabby, Abner, who spends his days wrestling with his best buddy Jake, sunbathing, and begging for food. In her spare time, Dr. Murphy enjoys archery, kayaking, hiking, landscaping, country dancing, and browsing antique stores.

Our Staff

P.J. - Practice Manager P.J. - Practice Manager

P. J. has always had a love for animals and an interest in their professional care. She has been working in the veterinary world as a manager for numerous years and thoroughly enjoys the relationships she's been able to build with clients and their pets. She has been with us since February of 2014.

She loves her home life with her husband, daughter and 4 "furry kids"! P. J.'s hobby in life now is spending "get-a-way time" in the mountains of Ruidoso, NM where she has family.

Matt  - Head Veterinary Technician Matt - Head Veterinary Technician

Matt has been a veterinary technician at Brown Trail Animal Hospital since July of 2005. He has over 10 years’ experience in the veterinary field. When Matt is not caring for our patients, he likes to hunt and spend time with his family. Matt and his wife share their home with their son, daughter, and Charlie, a Great Pyrenees.

Linda, LVT  - Patient Care Coordinator Linda, LVT - Patient Care Coordinator

Linda has been with us since March of 2004. Linda started as a veterinary technician after graduating from college with an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology. She then earned her license in the State of Texas as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

As Patient Care Coordinator, she communicates closely between the doctors and clients. Her communication ensures proper care, medications and treatments are all understood to help our clients pets towards better health and well-being. Linda also takes on the responsibility of holding our annual Pet Memorial each year, typically in the Fall.

Linda is also the owner of her own pet sitting company. She loves assisting our clients while at work and when off work. She spends her spare time with her husband and they love to go camping in their RV, whenever time allows or spending time around the pool relaxing. They share their home with Covey, a German shepherd and a cat named Maggie.

Kelli - Veterinary Technician/ Client Care Specialist Kelli - Veterinary Technician/ Client Care Specialist

Kelli has been with us since May 2015. She moved to North Richland Hills from Beaumont where she worked as an adoption coordinator for the Humane Society of Southeast Texas. Kelli spent numerous years working in animal rescue before training to become a veterinary technician. In her spare time, Kelli enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing. Kelli and her husband share their busy home with two teenage daughters, four dogs, a cat and a bunny.

David - Client Care Specialist David - Client Care Specialist

David brings 27 years business ownership experience in the Funeral Industry with him and has been with us since November 2012. He understands how important family is and that pets are considered family as well. He enjoys working closely with clients and pets to meet their needs. David is the proud owner of a 5 year old Chi-La-Pom named Sofi. David likes to travel and experience the cuisine and sights, with Tennessee being one of his favorites.

Ryann - Client Care Specialist Ryann - Client Care Specialist

Ryann has been with us since March of 2014. She loves coming to work every day to interact with clients and their pets! In her spare time, Ryann enjoys reading, spending time with family, horseback riding and yoga. She shares her home with her food obsessed cat, Cricket and her rambunctious young dog, Wrangler.
